This is to the people who call yourselves conscious or spiritual.
To the white people who call yourselves healers or teachers.
To the people who use BIPOC teachings and wisdom.
To those people who believe #blacklivesmatters is an American problem.
To the people who believe it is a Black problem.
To the people who post something in solidarity with good intentions, but then feel you’ve done your part and that’s all you can do and move on.
This is a call to action to check yourself.
What are you actually doing to create a world in which all of us experience more love, more justice, and more inner power?
What action and work do you do to stop the oppression of the same peoples who you share teachings from?
Have you done your anti-racism work?
What do you actively do to diversify your world, events, thoughts?
What do you do with your white privilege? your white fragility?
What are you willing to do about who you are in this moment?
What triggers have arisen inside of you in the past days?
What stories have you told yourself? What lies within your shadow?
Where does anti-blackness show up in your life?
What are you doing to create spaces where I am not the only one? Or don’t get mixed up with the other one?
I speak this as a woman of colour who has had many privileges, and yet has never ‘passed’.
From a place of having felt oppression and racism throughout my life, and yet highly aware that I will never know the racism and oppression of my darker skinned family, brothers and sisters.
I speak this from a place of knowing that so many of my peers are ignorant to their privilege, or so conditioned to believe that this doesn’t affect them.
This affects us all. It is time for action. Time to dig deeper. . What are you doing?
Check out a video I made about this in 2020, but is just as relevant today.
