Madonna has been Madonna since I can remember. There was no world without her. I grew up with her. Watching her break rules, and re-invent herself again and again. But most of all re-define what means to be a strong, fierce woman in the public eye and everything that goes along with that.
Artistically, I haven’t always loved everything she’s done, but she’s remained a true role-model in my life, and I feel, for this generation. She taught us that we can be many things, we can explore the many facets of what makes us who we are. That we have the power to define who we want to be, age how we want to age, remove the external boundaries of how things are supposed to be or look like, and allow ourselves to explore the fine lines between who we actually are, what inspires us, and the woman that wants to come out. We see through her affect on the world that not everyone will like it, but that it is possible, and you will survive. Thanks for that Madonna.
Enjoy her inspiring Woman of the Year speech. I love that she is still shy as a speaker with everything she has done. Yes, she’s human, just like the rest of us.
